Poltrona Frau

Set-up year: 1912. Founder: Renzo Frau. Over 90 years of history. A way along which Poltrona Frau has developed its sophisticated working manner through all the items that are imprinted by its identity mark: the famous die-stamped oak leaf, a symbol of durability.

From Milano to Paris and from New York to Rome, Poltrona Frau – represented in over 60 first class showrooms – is the symbol of luxury characterized by a non-obtrusive but universal elegance.

The combination of tradition and modernity makes from Poltrona Frau a famous brand, desired in any luxury spaces : residential and office spaces, reception desks, hotels, interiors of cars (Ferrari, Maserati, Rolls Royce, Mercedes), planes, yachts and helicopters, etc.

Poltrona Frau has developed and implemented projects with the greatest architects in the world: Jean Nouvel, Norman Foster, Richard Meier, Andree Putman, Paolo Pininfarina, Paola Navone and so on and so forth, adding value to all its designs by achieving excellence and being representative.

Palau Reina Sofia in Valencia, Disney Concert hall in Los Angeles, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, the European Parliament in Strasbourg or the Italian Stock Exchange in Milano are only a few such examples.

The uniqueness of shapes, the beauty of materials and the craftsmanship of manual works are distinct features that make each Poltrona Frau furniture item unequalled.

The great classics of luxury interiors (such as the Vanity Fair and Chesterfield armchairs) are these days, too, thanks to the collaboration with the designers Pierluigi Cerri, Gae Aulenti, Marco Zanuso, Pininfarina, Achille Castiglioni, Jean-Marie Massaud, incontestable stars.

The Frau leather (trade mark) is a material and at the same time a symbol of the quality, prestige and elegance of the Poltrona Frau furniture.

At least 21 exclusive procedures are used for processing Frau leather (that comes in 90 shades and over 130 tones) – more than double the number of steps performed by any other world furniture manufacturer! What is the result? Soft, fine leather, extremely resistant to the discoloring caused by light exposure, leather that gets old slowly and elegantly, acquiring soft cromatic tones like some exquisite wines whose value is increasing with the years passing by.

The master craftsman cuts delicately the leather, shaping the folds by the magic touch of his hands, sensously rolling the leather around the beech and steel structure of the future furniture item – as in the case of the latest Frau classic, the Art Deco Vanity Fair armchair – finished by 275 nails covered in leather and hand hammered.
